An Industrial IoT Gateway
That Quickly Connects
Legacy Equipment
Convert legacy industrial equipment with disparate communication methods into a standard data format and deliver it to Edge HMI, Cloud, and MES. Install it directly on-site without complex wiring to quickly start collecting data.

Situations Where Deployment Is Worth Considering
There is no way to extract data from legacy equipment
Equipment that is 20 to 30 years old uses proprietary communication methods or has no digital output at all, making data collection itself difficult.
Each device uses a different communication method, so integration is not possible
It is difficult to consolidate protocols that differ by manufacturer, such as Modbus, CC-Link, PROFIBUS, and serial, into one.
Wiring and installation are complex due to the floor environment
Control panels are dispersed or installation must be done in tight spaces, making large equipment or complex wiring difficult.
A Bridge Connecting Legacy Equipment
with Digital Operations
Whatever the communication method, it is converted into standard data through the EGNOX IoT gateway and flows to Edge HMI, Cloud, and MES.
Legacy Equipment
Read data from field equipment with differing communication methods, such as legacy PLCs, instruments, inverters, and power meters.
EGNOX IoT Gateway
Convert disparate protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, and RS-485 into the MQTT/JSON standard format.
Edge HMI · Cloud · MES
Reliably deliver the converted data to operations screens and analysis and execution systems.
Key Feature Details
Simultaneous support for various industrial protocols
Supports the major protocols used in the field, such as Modbus, OPC-UA, CC-Link, PROFIBUS, BACnet, and RS-232/485 serial. Protocols not on the supported list are addressed through custom driver development.
- Native support for Modbus RTU/TCP, OPC-UA, and MQTT
- Support for CC-Link, PROFIBUS, BACnet, and DNP3
- Direct connection of RS-232 / RS-485 serial devices
- Custom driver development support
Field-installed compact hardware
A compact form-factor gateway that can be installed directly on a DIN rail or inside a control panel. Just connect power, and you can immediately start configuration via the web setup UI.
- Compact form factor with DIN rail mounting support
- Web browser-based setup UI
- Industrial wide-range power input (DC 12-48V)
- Fanless design, IP30 rating
Data conversion and standardized transmission
Convert collected raw data into the JSON or MQTT standard format and reliably deliver it to Edge HMI, Cloud, and MES. In the event of a network disconnection, data is buffered locally and then retransmitted.
- Standard transmission via MQTT / REST API
- Data unit conversion and tag mapping
- Local buffering to prevent data loss
- Independent collection interval settings per point
Where and How It Is Used
These are representative usage scenarios that can be configured depending on the deployment environment.
Start collecting data from 20+ year old CNC and PLC equipment
Connect an RS-485 gateway to a legacy CNC that has only proprietary software and no network output. Start collecting current, alarm, and operating status data to Edge HMI.
Integrated collection of data from multiple power meter types
Integrate around 30 power meters using a mix of Modbus and BACnet through the gateway. Transmit via MQTT to the Cloud to build an energy consumption dashboard.
Connect instrument and inverter data to Edge HMI
Collect data from temperature, flow, and pressure instruments along with inverter frequency and current through the gateway, and connect it to the Edge HMI trend screen. Automate alarms when anomalies occur.
